In April 1980, six Iranians stormed the Iranian Embassy located in Kensington London and held 26 hostages.
The breaking of a terrorist siege in the heart of London, catapulted the normally secretive SAS onto the world stage.
The audacious daylight assault, led by SAS Lance Corporal Rusty Firmin, was carried out in the full glare of media scrutiny, capturing the nation and making the motto ‘Who Dares Wins’ an indelible part of UK culture.
Over six days a tense standoff took place, it took just 17 minutes for 19 remaining hostages to be freed and five of their six captors, members of the Democratic Revolutionary Front for the Liberation of Arabistan, taken out. Only one hostage, Ali Akbar Samadzadeh, lost his life.
Now a successful author, Go! Go! Go! has been turned into the highly acclaimed film titled 6 Days, the film is based on the Embassy Siege, starring Jamie Bell of Billy Elliot and Fantastic Four fame, playing Rusty.
Rusty will be here to talk about his life, his work and the Iranian Embassy Siege.
